What Does Grace Mean Within the Context of the Homosexual Issue?
Any person who wishes to deny the credibility of stories from Andrew Sullivan, Bruce Bawer or Mel White has to say these men are liars, and that they harbored some deep sin they are unwilling to come clean about. For those born with these particular affections, we are off to a very rocky start: we are basically saying somewhere you went wrong (common justifications are the person was sexually abused, had a dominant mother or absent father, etc.). A teenager who is struggling with his same-gender disposition will immediately and inevitably allow this to build a foundation of self-loathing, the unavoidable implications of which are believing that "somehow I am wrong - somehow, I am a mistake." ...Spheres of Influence
Man, as a species, faces an uncertain future unless he can learn to think collectively, posing answers to our deepest questions that are balanced between the good of the individual with the good of the whole. If we can not soon learn to mix our inborn need to strive in the mastery of medicine and science with the naked materialism and resulting rape of the environment this crass consumerism has produced, we will fail to survive and thrive.Of What Value Orthodoxy?
What truths transform? What binds us together in a community? What truths spark in us an awareness of our inter-connectivity such that we sacrifice for the greater good? What truths get in the way of us loving one another? If grace, mercy and forgiveness matter most (Christians here may choose to insert other fruits of the Spirit), then what gives rise to these emotions being internalized and put into action?Book Review: The Resurrection of the Son of God
Wright's analysis is almost entirely couched within his argument for the truth in historical events as recorded in the Gospels, and he does a superb job arguing for the reasonableness of believing in their historical weight. But Wright is attempting to answer a question of meaning by downplaying philosophy and reality, and relying only on history (similar arguments can and should be pointed out by those whose arguments are entirely couched within science, logic or philosophy). Where Wright trivializes the epistemology of reason, he does so at great cost to his argument.About MysteriousFaith
“If anyone can show me, and prove to me, that I am wrong in thought or deed, I will gladly change. I seek the truth, which never yet hurt anybody. It is only persistence in self-delusion and ignorance which does harm.”
